Who We Are
Mosaic is an environment that allows students to explore topics and passions in a project based manner, free from both grades and tests. By using projects we can learn and explore in a natural, authentic manner, rather than the artificial purposes that occur in a traditional classroom.
Currently I am a junior in my second year of Mosaic. My first year was spent in the traditional classroom before Mosaic started. My two greatest passions are history and climbing and in Mosaic I have been able to truly explore both of those, and many, many other topics. |
What I'm doing and what I'm learning
This year I have done the thing I am most proud of in Mosaic and that was creating my very own YouTube channel. I noticed on YouTube that there is a distinct lack of good content relating to history. As such Byte-Sized History seeks to fill that gap by creating short, 2-5 minute, videos on a wide variety of historical topics, researched using scholarly sources. At present 4 videos are officially released and 2 are in the process of getting made and I have ideas for dozens more. While I intend on continuing Byte-Sized History for the foreseeable future, I have spent much of this year creating the infrastructure need to run it by learning things like video editing and research techniques. In addition I worked with one of my teachers to craft a massive workflow that guides me through the process of creating each video.
